Construction Site Cameras in Canberra: Frost-Rated for the Capital
Canberra combines a Commonwealth and Territory infrastructure program with some of Australia's fastest-growing new suburbs — and a climate that ranges from minus-five mornings to 40-degree afternoons. JobCam supplies solar-powered, 4G-connected site cameras with same-day installation across the ACT and the neighbouring Queanbeyan-Palerang and Yass Valley areas of New South Wales.

Learn MoreCanberra's construction pipeline
Light Rail Stage 2A is under construction from the city to Commonwealth Park, with Stage 2B to Woden — across the lake and through the Parliamentary Triangle — planned behind it. The Canberra Hospital expansion delivered its Critical Services Building and the campus continues to grow, the new CIT campus has opened in Woden, and the Australian War Memorial's redevelopment is the largest Commonwealth cultural project in the country.
The suburbs are where most of the ACT's construction actually happens. Whitlam and Denman Prospect in the Molonglo Valley, Taylor and Jacka in Gungahlin, and the cross-border Ginninderry development at Strathnairn are adding new streets every month, while town-centre renewal in Woden, Belconnen and Gungahlin is replacing car parks with residential towers.
Security on Canberra construction sites
The ACT has no local councils — planning and construction compliance run through the Territory government, with the National Capital Authority overseeing designated areas such as the Parliamentary Triangle and the lake foreshore. That means a single set of expectations for site management, and a strong preference for documented, retained records on any project with a Commonwealth client.
Greenfield estates in Molonglo and Gungahlin see the same plant and tool theft as growth corridors elsewhere, made easier by the bush interface and the distance from established neighbours. JobCam's 4K cameras with AI motion detection watch the whole block from one solar tower, and every event is stored offsite in AWS data centres.
Canberra weather: cold, clear and occasionally violent
Canberra's winter is cold — frost most mornings, fog in the valleys and sub-zero starts from June to August — but it is also dry and clear, so solar yield holds up far better than in Melbourne. The engineering issue is the batteries: cold cuts capacity, so our Canberra towers use cold-rated cells and are sized for the short winter days.
Summer brings the opposite: 40-degree days, high UV and the bushfire risk that comes with the bush-capital setting. The January 2020 hailstorm that wrote off thousands of vehicles is a reminder that the ACT also sees severe convective storms; our IP67-rated housings are built for exactly that.
Queanbeyan, Yass and the ACT region
Our Canberra team covers the whole Canberra region, not just the Territory. Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Bungendore and Yass sit in NSW but are serviced from Canberra on the same same-day basis, and the Canberra districts — Tuggeranong, Woden, Weston Creek, Belconnen, Gungahlin and Molonglo — are all listed at the bottom of this page.
